Some say there's nothing better than sitting by a campfire talking to friends or being lulled to sleep by whippoorwills, crickets, frogs and coyotes. The Old Barn Resort has earned a reputation since 1990 for being a great place to camp and experience nature with family and friends. Whether you just want to relax in a lawn chair sipping your favorite refreshing beverage or enjoy some active recreation, The Old Barn has a LOT to offer— in a practically mosquito-free environment! Temperatures can get a little cool on the ends of the season, so call or email ahead if you are concerned about facilities. Lots of people find our season longer than most campgrounds and wonder about why we are open so soon or stay open so late. Camping season around here goes along with other seasons. Trout fishing season starts in mid-April as does turkey hunting. For other sporting activities, our 18-hole golf course is usually open by mid-April and the bike trail is usually cleared of snow and ice so bikers, walkers and roller bladers are kicking the winter blues goodbye by stretching their legs and lungs with cool spring air. Fall camping is phenomenal with all the colorful beauty to take in as people are still enjoying the golf course, bike trail or maybe a late season canoe ride. Deer archery season opens in mid-September and fall turkey season is in mid-October. Our indoor heated pool is even open by May 1 through the third weekend in October. So, don't hesitate to break out the camping gear before Memorial Day or keep it out past Labor Day—once you try spring or fall camping you'll find you enjoy it as much as or more than the summer. You might even find one of our local town celebrations in the spring or fall that you can make your own annual celebration!
